Warm golden-ochre dominates this print – a rich, slightly green-tinged yellow that reads somewhere between turmeric and old mustard – punctuated by the budgie’s apple green belly, its deep teal-black tail feathers, and the cooler yellow-green of its scalloped wings. The mood is cheerful and a little eccentric, botanical in spirit without being stiff. Because the palette is anchored in warm yellows with green undertones, it sits beautifully against walls painted in a deep olive or sage – analogous neighbours that share the same yellow-green temperature and pull the bird’s plumage forward rather than fighting it.
