CockaTwos is a two part series featuring a light and dark feathered cockatoo. Composed to sit as opposites, this series works perfectly displayed as a set.

Black features a candid portrait of a female red-tailed black cockatoo. The beautiful yellow spots on face and wings are only present in the female of the species.

Midnight black and deep navy form the print’s foundation, scattered through with small gold flecks that read almost like a starfield against the dark plumage – and it is this constellation of warm gold against cool, near-black tones that drives every styling decision. Walls in deep charcoal or soft slate echo the print’s own cool darks for a tonal, enveloping scheme; a warm off-white or pale stone picks up the gold notes and the bird’s cream beak, keeping the composition from feeling heavy; and for those who want contrast, a muted olive or deep ochre sits as an analogous neighbour to that gold, giving the print room to glow. This is a print that belongs in a study or library, where its quiet intensity rewards sustained attention, or in a bedroom where the dark palette settles rather than startles – a hallway with good directional lighting would let the gold flecks do their work beautifully too. In terms of interior style, it suits Japandi interiors for its restraint and tonal depth, Dark Academia for the obvious reasons, and considered maximalist or eclectic schemes where a piece needs gravitas to anchor the room. The print is part of the CockaTwos collection, a tribute to the cockatoo’s charismatic personality and physical beauty – the collection features two prints designed to complement each other on a gallery wall or hold their own individually, and together they bring, as the artist puts it, the birds’ vivid spirits into your living space. It makes a considered gift for bird lovers, nature illustrators, or anyone whose home leans atmospheric rather than airy.

Printed with archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag®, a museum-grade cotton paper with a subtle felt texture, the matte, glare-free surface reads beautifully in both natural and artificial light and works equally well in a slim oak or black metal frame as in an ornate gilt or ebonised wood moulding. At A4 (21 × 29.7 cm) or A3 (29.7 × 42 cm) the print sits comfortably on a shelf, a mantelpiece, or within a grouped gallery arrangement; A2 (42 × 59.4 cm) makes a confident statement above a desk or bedside; and at A1 (59.4 × 84.1 cm) or the largest A0 (84.1 × 118.9 cm) it has the presence to anchor an entire wall, the gold flecks becoming increasingly dramatic as the scale grows. This print is also available as a 28 × 40 inch (70 × 100 cm) canvas, ready to hang with no frame needed.
