Death
One of the most requested and maybe most ominous looking design of my Tarot Cats. Death has arrived. Not on a pale horse as in more traditional card designs but in the shape of a statuesque and svelte wild Serval cat with skeleton fur pattern.
Of course as far as interpretations go, the Death card is rarely as severe as it looks. Implying and end of circumstances, interests or relationships rather than a physical expiration…
Vintage parchment cream, muted sage green, a bold vermilion red, soft charcoal grey and touches of blush peach make up this print’s palette, all softened by the aged, storybook quality of the linework. The warm neutral base means it settles easily against cream, warm white, sage green and putty-coloured walls, while the flash of red gives it enough presence to hold its own on deep charcoal or near-black paint for a moodier hang. Stylists would place it comfortably in dark academia, eclectic maximalist, vintage bohemian and modern gothic interiors — anywhere that welcomes a little curiosity and wit on the walls. It suits a reading corner, home office or hallway particularly well, and makes an unexpectedly charming bedroom piece for anyone drawn to the mystical. As part of the Tarot Cats collection, it reimagines the classic tarot deck with feline stand-ins, and it pairs naturally with other cards from the collection for a gallery wall that reads like a spread. It also makes a knowing gift for tarot readers, cat lovers and friends with a taste for the gently macabre.
The print is produced with archival pigment inks on Enhanced Matte art paper, a smooth, museum-grade stock whose soft, glare-free surface lets the fine hatched detail read clearly under lamplight or daylight alike, and suits both slim modern frames and ornate vintage ones. At A4 (21 × 29.7 cm) and A3 (29.7 × 42 cm) it slips neatly onto a shelf, mantel or into a gallery wall of fellow Tarot Cats; A2 (42 × 59.4 cm) and A1 (59.4 × 84.1 cm) work as statement pieces above a desk, dresser or bed; and A0 (84.1 × 118.9 cm) is large enough to anchor a whole room with its quiet, watchful drama. It is also available as a 28×40" (70×100 cm) canvas print, ready to hang with no frame needed.
Retrogrades Tarot Cats. Let’s see if I’ll make it to a full deck of cats, in the meantime let these be with and guide you in your ways. Because let’s face it, cats are the rulers of our destiny and household. Inspired by vintage tarot card illustrations and a muted colour palette, these are seriously collectible and real ease their full potential paired in multiples on your wall!
