Les Parfums illustrates the four main scent families used in perfumery for centuries. Chypre means Cyprus in French, where the first scent to feature the main notes was composed. The scent generally fatures citrus overtones contrasted by woody base notes.
Traditionally the most feminine and sweet of the perfume families, most traditional floral fragrances have their base in Rose and Jasmine, often also feature Lily of the Valley, gardenia, tuberose, mimosa, magnolia and others.
Fougere meaning Fern in French, celebrates the first synthetically created scent. What an imaginative perfumer imagined the otherwise odourless fern might smell like. Made with a mix of fragrances, the top notes include lavender scents which give way to more woodland and herby green notes like Vetiver adding a spicy twist.
