The beautiful turquoise hued Eurasian kingfisher is the only one of the vast kingfisher family to be found dipping in and out of our rivers and streams. If you don’t pay attention you might mistake their dive for a sudden sun reflection off the water that’s how tiny and fast they are!

Walls in a warm off-white or soft stone work with the cream in the bird’s throat and let the teal and orange do the talking; a deep teal-green takes an analogous route, wrapping the print in its own richness and making the orange plumage sing; or lean into the complementary tension already present in the image and go for a burnt-terracotta or warm clay wall, which mirrors the amber breast and throws the cool blue feathers into sharp, satisfying relief.
