Jellysnakes expresses the meandering thoughts, distractions, and procrastinations of my mind. Each colour a different emotion evoked by a different thought, reaction to a cute cat video, the unexpected ring of the doorbell etc etc. All made come to silly life by adding a pair of googly eyes!

Lemon Twist winds its way through a palette of warm marigold orange, sunshine yellow, acid yellow-green, grass green, dusky pink, teal blue, and a soft cream – all grounded by a sandy caramel background that gives the whole thing a sun-baked warmth. Because the palette is built almost entirely from warm and warm-leaning hues, it will sing against walls painted in terracotta, warm ochre, or a deep burnt amber, which echo the caramel and orange tones through an analogous relationship. For a lighter room it works equally well against a soft warm white with a cream or buttermilk undertone – cool, stark white would fight the sandiness in the background. Contrasters willing to be bolder could try a deep teal or petrol blue, which is present in the print itself and gives the wall colour a clear visual anchor. In terms of style, this print is a natural fit for playful maximalism, retro-modern interiors with a nod to the seventies, Scandinavian-influenced children’s spaces, and the warmer end of contemporary eclectic decorating. Mood-wise it is joyful and a little daft, so it belongs somewhere life is lived: a child’s bedroom, a kitchen wall, a creative studio, or a family playroom where a burst of colour is not just welcome but expected. Part of the Jellysnakes collection – a series of six prints described by the artist as "an explosion of colour and emotion," each one brought to "silly life with a pair of googly eyes" – Lemon Twist groups brilliantly with others from the series for a gallery wall that feels cohesive without being matchy. It makes a generous gift for anyone who collects bold, character-led art or who needs a reliable mood-lifter on the wall.

Printed with archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag®, a museum-grade cotton paper with a subtle felt texture, the matte, glare-free surface means the colours read cleanly under any lighting without reflections flattening the image – and it sits happily in everything from a slim natural-oak frame to an ornate vintage plaster moulding. The A4 (21 × 29.7 cm) and A3 (29.7 × 42 cm) sizes suit a shelf ledge, a bedside nook, or a spot within a gallery wall arrangement; the A2 (42 × 59.4 cm) holds its own as a standalone piece above a desk or beside a doorway; the A1 (59.4 × 84.1 cm) makes a confident statement on a chimney breast or staircase wall; and the A0 (84.1 × 118.9 cm) is large enough to anchor an entire room, the Jellysnake uncoiling at a scale that genuinely stops you in your tracks. This print is also available as a ready-to-hang canvas measuring 28 × 40 inches (70 × 100 cm), which needs no frame at all.
