Of all the many Edinburgh University buildings, this one has the most magical, suspended in time vibe where the history and century of footsteps are palpable.

The view of newly refurnished to its former glory North Bridge. The bridge was closed for many years of refurbishment and repainting, making the new view without scaffolding almost surreal.

One of the first views of Edinburgh if you arrive by train to Waverley station!

If you do like to be beside the seaside….there’s no better place than Edinburgh’s iconic beauty spot Portobello!

My personal favourite part of Princes Street Gardens right next to Waverley Bridge. Not the “main bit” that everybody uses to sit and sunbathe in summer, this is the smaller, more lusciously planted and flowering area accessible right across from the bottom of Cockburn Street.

Originally an exhibit at The Great Exhibition in 1882, this magnificent fountain is now standing beautifully restored in the most wonderful colours in Princes St Gardens Edinburgh.

Right in the middle of Princes Street stands a giant black gothic monument dedicated to the writer Sir Walter Scott. The largest monument dedicated to a writer in the world. This is part of a series of original illustrations featuring well (and sometimes lesser) known Edinburgh streets and monuments.

Not exactly a hidden gem (as the writers museum sits in a close just off the Royal Mile), this adorable little building and view is not nearly as heavily featured in the “Edinburgh sights to see” lists as it should be.

Arthur Conan Doyle author of the Sherlock Holmes novels famously came from Edinbrugh basing his character losely on an Edinburgh surgeon named Dr. Joseph Bell who he studied with. This is part of a series of original illustrations featuring well (and sometimes lesser) known Edinburgh streets and monuments.

St. Giles cathedral is Edinburgh’s most prominent and famous cathedral positioned right in the centre of the old town on the Royal Mile. The church was founded all the way back in 1124, then became the focal point of Scottish Reformation in the 16th century. The sheer size and imposition of the structure is hard…

Just out of the city centre is the picturesque area of Stockbridge which used to be host to a famous meat and general produce market. The market is no longer in swing at it’s original location – however the archway remains. This is part of a series of original illustrations featuring well (and sometimes lesser)…

A view of the magnificent Edinburgh Castle, as seen from The Vennel in the Grassmarket. The Vennel, apart from offering one of the finest views in Edinburgh has a surprising amount of history surrounding it’s steps. Alongside you will find the 16th century built Flodden Wall, as well as remains of the Telfer wall. Also…

It’s been alive for over 130 years and is still going strong. Its as iconic as it gets. Part engineering legend, part ruby-red origami, the Forth Bridge strides across the Firth like it owns the horizon. Opened in 1890, this pioneering feat of steel still feels thrillingly modern – carrying little silver trains and big…
