Chromatose is a celebration of colour in its purest most joyful form and the emotions it evokes. Inspired by the things that come to live in my head when I close my eyes and think of a specific colour – bright sparks of ideas and inspiration set against bold brushstrokes, and shades that blend from one sentiment into the next.
Chromatose Meander No. 2 fills a room with a particular kind of charged energy: the warm tangle of tangerine orange, brick red and acid yellow at its centre, held in check by the cool relief of grass green, lime and sage, with flashes of coral and cream-and-black stripe running through like a pulse. Because the palette is so emphatically warm-dominant with those orange and red hues, it pulls strongly against walls painted in a deep forest green or olive – analogous neighbours that echo the print’s own greens while making the fiery centre glow. For a more tonal approach, a burnt-terracotta or warm sand wall lets the brick reds and oranges breathe without competition. If the room can carry contrast, a charcoal or near-black wall throws the acid yellow and lime into sharp, electric relief. Part of the Chromatose collection – work built around the idea of pure emotion in colour – this print pairs naturally with other pieces from the series on a gallery wall, letting the shared warmth and gestural movement build into something cumulative. It suits interiors drawn to maximalist, tropical, neo-expressionist or contemporary eclectic styles, and sits well in a studio, a wide hallway or a living room where a large wall needs something that moves. It would make a vivid and considered gift for anyone who collects original-feeling work or decorates with confidence.
Printed with archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® – a museum-grade cotton paper with a subtle felt texture – the surface is fully matte and glare-free, which means it reads cleanly under both natural and artificial light and suits everything from a slim oak or black metal frame to a more ornate gilded moulding. At A4 and A3, the print works beautifully propped on a shelf or as part of a layered gallery arrangement; at A2 and A1 it becomes a genuine focal point above a desk or sideboard; at A0 it has the scale to anchor an entire wall, and the swirling composition earns that proportion entirely. This print is also available as a ready-to-hang canvas print measuring 28×40 inches (70×100 cm), requiring no frame.
