Chromatose is a celebration of colour in its purest most joyful form and the emotions it evokes. Inspired by the things that come to live in my head when I close my eyes and think of a specific colour – bright sparks of ideas and inspiration set against bold brushstrokes, and shades that blend from one sentiment into the next.
Chromatose Meander No. 3 arrives in a rush of coral-red, lime green, warm orange, soft lavender, deep violet and teal – colours that feel simultaneously tropical and psychedelic, restless and alive. That warmth running through the coral and orange means the print settles most naturally against walls painted in a soft terracotta, a muted amber, or a warm off-white with a yellow undertone, all of which draw out the painting’s heat rather than fighting it. For something with more tension, a deep forest green – an analogous neighbour to the teal and lime already in the composition – makes the coral elements surge forward brilliantly. The lavender passages give you another route: a cool dusty lilac on the wall creates an analogous harmony on the cooler side of the palette and lets the whole print breathe. In terms of interior styles, this print speaks most honestly to maximalist, neo-expressionist interiors, eclectic bohemian rooms and bold contemporary spaces where art is the main event.
