While they don’t exclusive roam about Australia, cockatoos certainly are the colourfully crested poster child for Australia. Ok but coffee? Turns out Australia grows and produces its own award winning coffees and many would agree that antipodean coffee culture led to the worldwide boom of the same over the last decade or so…
The ADimals series takes its inspiration from playful mid-century style advertising posters. Taking you back to a time when photography was rarely used in advertising and companies took a more humorous and artistically illustrated approach to showcase their products and services.
Warm sandy cream, soft blush pink, burnt coral-orange, chalky white, and flashes of golden yellow give this print a palette that reads as sun-warmed and gently tropical without ever feeling garish. Those sandy and blush tones pair beautifully with walls in a warm off-white or a pale terracotta – both sitting in the same warm, peachy family as the print’s own dominant hues – while the coral-orange lettering can carry a bolder analogous step up to a deep, earthy paprika or rust if you want the print to sing against something richer. A soft warm greige with a pink undertone works as a composed neutral that lets the chalky whites of the cockatoos float forward without competing. The mood is cheerful but considered – part vintage advertisement, part nature study – which makes it a natural fit for eclectic, maximalist, retro-kitsch, and mid-century modern interiors. It belongs in a kitchen or dining room where the coffee-shop subject feels genuinely at home, or in a home office where a little wit keeps the working day light. Part of the ADimals collection, which pairs sharp animal character with bold graphic sensibility, it hangs well alongside other prints from the range on a gallery wall, and makes an honest, specific gift for coffee lovers, bird enthusiasts, or anyone who takes their interior style with a side of humour.
Printed with archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® – a museum-grade cotton paper with a subtle felt texture – the matte, glare-free surface suits both slim Scandinavian frames and ornate gilded ones, letting the warm vintage tones do the work without reflections. At A4 (21 × 29.7 cm) or A3 (29.7 × 42 cm) it fits neatly on a shelf, a kitchen counter ledge, or as part of a tighter gallery wall arrangement; A2 (42 × 59.4 cm) holds its own as a standalone piece above a sideboard or beside a coffee station; and A1 (59.4 × 84.1 cm) or A0 (84.1 × 118.9 cm) gives the cockatoos the full room-anchoring presence the composition was clearly drawn to carry. This print is also available as a 28 × 40" (70 × 100 cm) canvas print, ready to hang with no frame needed.
