A playful yet robust scent, Fougère has floral lavender top notes, that give way to herby, woody notes of oakmoss and hay.
This is a design from the pattern and print series Les Parfums Bloom.
Les Parfums Bloom is a follow up of my series of scent illustrations featuring 4 of the main fragrance families used in perfumery; focusing on botanicals and abstract shapes to evoke a perfume’s intricate bouquet and mood.
These are square giclée prints, available in a variety of sizes and will suit a living area or hallway, either as a main hero wall piece, or as smaller highlights.
Fougère sits within the Les Parfums collection – a series that translates the four pillars of perfumery into visual art – and it captures the cool, fern-fresh character of its namesake fragrance family with a palette that feels genuinely botanical: sage and apple green, warm sandy gold, muted olive, soft teal, slate blue, and medium purple-violet, with white space keeping the whole composition airy rather than heavy. Those warm sandy and olive tones carry a yellow-green undertone, making the print read as neither purely cool nor purely warm, which gives it unusual flexibility on the wall. For a harmonious scheme, hang it against a softened sage or eucalyptus green – an analogous neighbour that echoes the print’s dominant hue without competing; alternatively, a warm off-white with a faint ochre undertone draws out the sandy gold and lets the botanical linework breathe. If the room can carry a little contrast, a dusty slate or muted indigo wall picks up the navy and violet notes and gives the composition more presence. In terms of style, this print genuinely suits biophilic interiors, contemporary maximalist spaces, Japandi rooms that welcome an earthy colour accent, and the kind of relaxed bohemian aesthetic built around natural materials and layered texture. It belongs in a home studio or reading room where its contemplative, nature-immersed mood rewards a quiet glance, or in a bedroom where the cool greens and soft violet settle rather than excite. Being part of Les Parfums, it pairs beautifully with Floral, Oriental, and Chypre for a gallery wall that reads as a coherent sensory world. It would make a considered gift for anyone drawn to botanics, perfume, or abstract art with a grounded, natural character.
Printed with archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® – a museum-grade, 100% cotton paper with a subtle felt texture – the surface is matte and entirely glare-free, which means it reads equally well in a north-facing room with soft ambient light and a sun-filled south-facing one; that same surface suits both the slim oak or black metal frames typical of contemporary interiors and more ornate gilded or antique frames without reflection becoming a distraction. The 8" square sits comfortably on a shelf or as part of a tightly grouped gallery wall; the 12" and 16" squares bring enough detail to hold a wall in a hallway or above a desk without overwhelming the space; the 24" and 32" squares work as genuine focal points above a sofa or bed, where the sweep of botanical line and colour has room to unfold; and the 40" square anchors a large room with the confidence of a gallery piece, the linework scaling up to reward close attention. This print is also available as a 28×40" (70×100 cm) canvas, ready to hang with no frame needed.
