K is for Kunzite.
Kunzite is a very young gemstone. Discovered in 1902 in San Diego, California. It has a very characteristic delicate pink to violet colour.
The Gemstone Alphabet combines a minimalist aesthetic of bold striped initial letters with geometrically striking and unusual gemstones and minerals. Science..but sexy!
Graphic black-and-white diagonal stripes form the letterform here, cut through with two oval gemstones in soft lilac and deeper berry pink – a palette that reads as cool, violet-leaning, and quietly bold. That cool undertone means the print sits happily against walls in pale lavender-grey, soft dove white with a blue-grey tinge, or a deeper slate-blue, all of which share the violet temperature and let the gems glow rather than recede. For contrast, a warm blush or dusty rose wall draws out the pink in the lower stone through near-complementary tension, while a true charcoal or soft black backdrop intensifies the graphic drama of the striped letterform. The strong monochrome geometry alongside jewel-toned colour makes this a natural fit for maximalist, graphic-pop, and art deco interiors, and the cool gemstone palette works equally well in a contemporary minimalist room that wants one moment of colour. A child’s bedroom or reading nook is an obvious home – the letter makes it personal without being cloying – but a home office wall or a narrow hallway also suits the vertical energy and bold contrast. Part of the Gemstone Alphabet collection, which pairs illustrated gemstones with bold typographic letterforms to create a full A-to-Z of decorative initials, this print hangs naturally alongside others from the series for a gallery wall built around personal initials or a run of favourite letters. It makes a considered and personal gift for anyone with a name, a birthday, or a new home beginning with K.
The print is produced with archival pigment inks on Enhanced Matte art paper, a smooth, gallery-grade stock with a soft, glare-free surface that earns it museum-grade status without the visual noise of a glossy finish. That matte surface works equally well behind the clean lines of a slim black or white frame and beneath the detail of an ornate gilded or antique frame, making it adaptable across decorating schemes. At A4 the print tucks neatly onto a shelf or into a gallery wall arrangement; A3 holds its own as a considered accent piece above a desk or beside a doorway; A2 functions as a proper statement print above a bed or sofa; and at A1 the letterform commands a room with real presence, anchoring a wall in a hallway, playroom, or living space. This print is also available as a ready-to-hang canvas print measuring 28×40 inches (70×100 cm), which requires no frame.
