Ni evokes a crescendo and tension leading the way.
The Movements series was inspired by the vintage Art Deco style illustration Dancer by Japanese artist Kobayakawa Kiyoshi. The three abstract artworks were created to accompany the reworked version of the original 1932 illustration. The shapes, lines, and colours convey a different rhythm, pace and mood while creating an abstract performance when combined.
Warm amber-ochre, soft mint green, muted salmon-peach, deep burgundy-brown, pale cream, and a flash of cobalt blue – this is the palette that gives Ni its particular energy: earthy and warm at its core, with cool accents that keep it lively rather than heavy. Because the dominant hues are warm terracotta-adjacent tones, walls in deep clay, dusty terracotta, or warm sand read as tonal neighbours and let the print sit in full harmony; for something more dynamic, a deep forest green wall borrows contrast from the mint circle and makes the ochre sing against it. Cooler neutrals with a slight grey-green undertone – a warm linen rather than a stark white – complement the cream background of the print without pulling it cold. Ni suits interiors that carry some visual confidence: mid-century modern spaces, where the bold geometric rhythm feels immediately at home; eclectic or maximalist rooms that welcome colour and compositional tension; contemporary Bauhaus-inspired schemes drawn to abstract shape and primary-adjacent colour; and earthy, organic-modern interiors layering natural textures with considered colour. In the living room above a low credenza, or in a study where the abstract geometry rewards longer looking, it holds the wall with authority. Ni belongs to the Movements collection – a quartet of prints described as "a visual performance, each piece contributing its unique rhythm" – and grouped with its companion pieces it makes a gallery wall that genuinely earns that description.
