Edinburgh Gin collaborated with the fabulous Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh to create an amazing premium London Dry Gin. They commissioned Dodo to create this print to celebrate their creation. And if there are two things Dodo loves it is anything botanical and gin (well, and cats, but they just didn’t fit this brief.)
Deep forest green, sage, pale celadon, warm ivory, muted purple, and a touch of woody brown – these are the colours that set the tone for this print, and they point clearly to how it should live on a wall. The palette is cool-to-neutral in temperature, so it sits most naturally against walls in the same green family: a mid-depth sage or a dusty bottle green would pull the print’s dominant hues forward in a tonal, enveloping scheme. For those who prefer contrast, the ivory and warm brown undertones in the composition allow a wall in soft warm white or pale oat to balance the coolness without competing. If you want something bolder, the print’s muted purple notes can justify a deeper plum-grey wall – a near-complementary move that gives the whole thing a quietly dramatic edge.
The layering of botanical illustration with loose watercolour washes and Art Deco-influenced framing makes this print a genuine fit for biophilic interiors, where natural motifs anchor the decoration, and for contemporary maximalist spaces that mix pattern and richness without noise.
