This is the 3rd instalment of my abstract pattern series inspired by the Four Seasons.
With Indian Summer like foliage and cold undertones, this one represents Autumn/Fall.
The four part series is a happy mix of fun, vibrant colours and shapes with a nod to plants and foliage during the seasons as inspiration.
Riot and rhythm define this print – its palette crashes together lime green, tangerine orange, cobalt blue, golden yellow, and a deep burgundy red, all held in check by bold black line work and bursts of white. That combination of warm citrus tones and cooler cobalt reads as genuinely energetic rather than restful, which makes it a strong candidate for a room that needs presence: a home studio, a wide kitchen wall, or the landing wall at the top of a staircase where it can be approached head-on. For wall colour, the warmth of the orange and yellow is dominant, so a flat, slightly chalky warm white – one with a yellow rather than a pink undertone – lets the print own the wall entirely without competition. If you want contrast rather than harmony, the cobalt and navy in the lower half of the composition give you licence for a deep teal-green or a saturated peacock blue on the wall, which the lime accents will hold their own against. Avoid cool grey-whites, whose blue undertone will flatten the citrus completely.
