V is for Variscite.
Variscite can be confused with turquoise in appearance although variscite is usually greener in colour. The green colour comes from small amounts of chromium.
The Gemstone Alphabet combines a minimalist aesthetic of bold striped initial letters with geometrically striking and unusual gemstones and minerals. Science..but sexy!
Mint green and cool white are the colours that anchor this print – a clear, slightly chalky aqua lifted by softer grey-white veining in the variscite stones, set against graphic black-and-white diagonal stripes that give the whole composition a crisp, high-contrast energy. That cool-toned mint sits naturally against walls painted in a soft sage or dusty eucalyptus, which share its blue-green undertone and keep the room feeling calm and considered. For a sharper look, a deep charcoal or near-black wall throws the pale aqua and white into strong relief – a pairing earned by the black already woven through the striped letterform itself. Cooler off-whites and pale grey-whites also work well as neutrals, their blue or green undertones matching the print’s cool temperature without competing with it. In terms of style, this print is a natural fit for contemporary minimalist interiors, graphic modernist spaces, Scandi-influenced rooms, and the kind of nature-meets-geometry aesthetic sometimes called biophilic modern. It works especially well in a home office, a child’s room where the alphabet reference reads with quiet wit, or a hallway where the bold V-shape commands attention at a distance. Part of the Gemstone Alphabet collection – a series pairing lettering with photographic mineral specimens – it pairs beautifully with other prints from the collection arranged as a gallery wall of initials or a full alphabetic run. It makes a considered gift for anyone whose name, or a name they love, begins with V.
The print is produced with archival pigment inks on Enhanced Matte art paper, a smooth gallery-grade stock with a soft, glare-free finish that the maker describes as museum-grade – and that quality shows in how cleanly the black stripes and the delicate stone textures both resolve on the surface. The matte finish works equally well in a slim oak or black metal frame for a contemporary hang, or in an ornate plaster-white frame if the room calls for something more traditional. At A4 (21 × 29.7 cm) or A3 (29.7 × 42 cm) it sits comfortably on a shelf or within a mixed gallery wall arrangement; at A2 (42 × 59.4 cm) it reads as a confident standalone piece above a desk or beside a doorway; and at A1 (59.4 × 84.1 cm) the bold geometry is large enough to anchor a full wall in a living room or bedroom. This print is also available as a 28 × 40 inch (70 × 100 cm) canvas, ready to hang with no frame needed.
