Frites Vites Giclée Art Print

Frites Vites with its gourmet fries and sea view is the grown up version of my childhood days Chlorine Cowboys (fries after a long day of swimming in chlorinated water and water pistol fights). Because every time I am by the seaside my inner child will want fries over any fancy restaurant seafood or other clever grown up dishes. Ideally there’d be curly fries, too…

Warm sandy terracotta, soft blush pink, faded denim blue, creamy white, and a muted golden yellow are the colours doing the work here – a palette that reads as sun-warmed and coastal without being brash about it. Those sandy and blush tones are the real warmth in this print, so walls in a similar warm-white, a dusty rose, or a soft terracotta-adjacent cream will pull the palette together harmoniously rather than fighting it; the faded denim blue offers a cooler contrast note, meaning a chalky slate-blue wall can also hold it well, its undertone echoed directly in the tiled tablecloth. Rooms where food, leisure, and a little daydreaming overlap are natural homes for this print – a kitchen, a dining area, a café-style breakfast nook, or even a relaxed utility room given a bit of character. Style-wise, it genuinely suits coastal casual, French bistro, retro Americana, and the kind of quietly maximalist eclectic home that layers pattern and colour with an easy hand. This print belongs to the Hôtel Dodo collection, an imaginary resort built around retro holiday nostalgia and joyous calm – that "nothing to do, nowhere to go" energy translated into image. It pairs naturally with other prints from the collection for a gallery wall that feels curated rather than accidental, and it would make a considered gift for anyone whose idea of a good afternoon involves good food and an unhurried view.

Printed using archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® – a museum-grade cotton paper with a subtle felt texture – the surface is matte and entirely glare-free, which means it works as happily in a bright kitchen as a dimly lit dining room, and takes equally well to a slim modern frame or an ornate vintage one. The A4 and A3 sizes suit a shelf ledge or a tightly grouped gallery wall; the A2 and A3 step up naturally as standalone pieces above a sideboard or kitchen counter; and the A1 and A0 have the presence to anchor a large dining room or open-plan kitchen wall with real conviction. This print is also available as a ready-to-hang canvas print at 28×40 inches (70×100 cm), requiring no frame.

Hôtel Dodo is a place, or better a tiny universe, that exists in my head allowing me to mind travel. Not dissimilar to the concept of a mind palace that makes remembering things easier.
My little universe is all about moments of calm, appreciating the little things, sun soaked lazy holiday lunches, beautifully curated table settings, and overall that “nothing to do, nowhere to go” energy.
Each setting invites the viewer to take a seat and the table, focus on the calm before them and be transported elsewhere for a little while.
