While a lot of people might associate paprika flavouring with Spain and more Mediterranean vibes, it’s actually Hungary that is world famous for its signature paprika flavours. The unique climate in the place makes for the unique flavouring…
So in this trip with Hotel Dodo I immersed myself in the bold colours of Hungarian folk patterns on ceramic and table linen as well as giving a nod to a Hungary’s national flower the tulip.
So what’s a Puszta you ask? The Puszta is a place in Hungary, an area of great plains that has been used for agricultural purposes for over 2 millennia. Part of it is a UNESCO world heritage site, as it has reminded and intact and visible evidence of its traditional pastoral use over all this time. It represents the harmonious integration between people and nature. And of course in all that time many significant scientific discoveries have been made there…..
Hôtel Dodo is a place, or better a tiny universe, that exists in my head allowing me to mind travel. Not dissimilar to the concept of a mind palace that makes remembering things easier.
My little universe is all about moments of calm, appreciating the little things, sun soaked lazy holiday lunches, beautifully curated table settings, and overall that “nothing to do, nowhere to go” energy.
Each setting invites the viewer to take a seat and the table, focus on the calm before them and be transported elsewhere for a little while.
